The Purpose of a Sinus Lift
When it comes to the success of a dental implant, a key component is the density of the bone in the area where the implant is to be placed. The upper back jaw is a difficult area to place dental implants, because of its proximity to the sinuses and the dearth of bone material to be found there.
Sinus lift surgery is performed to correct this problem by raising the sinus floor and increasing the amount of bone in the area, so that a stable implant can be placed.
